Trusting God’s Plan When It Leads You Into the Unknown

Trusting God’s Plan When It Leads You Into the Unknown

Inspired by Gods plan for your life in the Bible APP

As parents, we often find ourselves facing big decisions and life changes that can feel daunting and uncertain. Maybe you’re considering homeschooling your children, but the thought of taking on that responsibility fills you with anxiety. Or perhaps you feel a strong calling from God to make a major career change or move your family to a new city, even though the future is unclear.

In times like these, it’s easy to get caught up worrying about all the unknowns. How will we manage? What if we fail? Where is God leading us, and can we really trust that His plan is good?

The biblical story of Abraham (originally called Abram) provides an encouraging example of what it looks like to follow God’s plan, even when it takes us into uncharted territory.

In Genesis 12, God spoke to Abram and said, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you” (Genesis 12:1). Can you imagine how Abram must have felt in that moment? God was essentially asking him to uproot his entire life and move his family to a place Abram had never even seen before.

Yet the Bible tells us that “Abram went, as the Lord had told him” (Genesis 12:4). Abram didn’t have the full blueprint for his future laid out – God simply gave him instructions for the very next step. But Abram chose to obey in faith, trusting that God would guide him along the way.

As Abram continued to follow God’s leading, the bigger picture of God’s plan for his life began to unfold. God promised to make Abram the father of a great nation, even though Abram and his wife were childless at the time. Yet Abram believed God, and God eventually fulfilled that promise by giving Abram and Sarah a son, Isaac.

This is such an encouraging reminder for us as parents facing big, unknown tasks. When God calls us to step out in faith – whether it’s to homeschool our kids, make a major career change, or move our family to a new place – He isn’t asking us to see the entire plan. He’s simply inviting us to take the next faithful step.

Just like Abram, we don’t need to have all the answers or a detailed roadmap for the future. God will provide the guidance and resources we need, one step at a time. Our job is to choose obedience, even when the way forward seems uncertain.

It took me years to understand this. But one day it just hit me. I thought to myself I am here to help God achieve his plan, in my child’s life. He already knows whats going to come, I just need to be the transportation to get from point A-B. What ever that is I must be patient.

We’re in a season of transition with homeschool. I don’t know which way to go. I can either graduate my daughter and she can move onto adult-ing, or we can explore new educational options. At the moment we are waiting to hear on acceptance to a school that starts in 3 days. If that falls through then I am not sure what to do. But God knows, and so I will continue to pray and listen for his direction.

Are you a struggling mom who feels uncertain about homeschooling or some other major life change God is leading you toward? Take heart from Abram’s example. Trust that even when you can’t see the full picture, God’s plan is good. Continue moving forward in faith, and watch how He will unfold His purposes for you and your family.
