The Rest You Crave Isn’t Found in a Schedule—It’s Found in the Savior

“You can’t pour from an empty cup, sis. But here’s the thing—God never asked you to pour from your own strength in the first place.”

Let’s just say it out loud: the to-do list is never-ending, the laundry multiplies like rabbits, and even our “quiet time” feels like another checkbox sometimes. If you’re tired... like bone-tired, this one’s for you.

In last week’s blog, we unpacked the importance of mindset and how shifting your inner dialogue can make room for peace. But what happens when your body is depleted and your spirit feels like it’s waving a white flag?

You don’t need another schedule. You need a Savior.

🕊️ Biblical Rest vs. Worldly Productivity

The world tells us to keep pushing, keep doing, keep performing. But Jesus says, “Come to Me, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

One system says your worth is tied to your productivity. God’s kingdom says your worth was settled on the cross.

We don’t rest because we’re weak. We rest because we’re His.

🗓️ Sabbath Isn’t Just a Sunday Thing

Sabbath isn’t a box to check or a day off once a week. It’s a rhythm of trust. It’s your soul learning to exhale.

Rest means surrendering control—even when the laundry’s not done, the dishes are stacked, and dinner’s still a mystery. It’s saying, “God, I trust You to hold what I’m trying to carry.”

✨ My Burnout to Breakthrough Story

There was a breaking point—and I remember it vividly. I was standing in the shower, water pouring down like it could somehow drown out the heaviness I was feeling. But it couldn’t. Not that day.

Earlier, my husband had said something that shattered me. “If something doesn’t change, she’s going to hate you when she’s older.”

He didn’t say it to be cruel—he said it because he was right.

The truth is… I have what you’d call a resting brat face and a tone that can sound harsher than I mean it. And that just doesn’t mesh well with a daughter who is sensitive, energetic, excited about life, and fiercely independent.

At the time, I thought the only way to get school done was to be strict. Stick to the schedule. Finish the chapter. No room for fun, flexibility, or feelings.

If we didn’t check all the boxes, I’d spiral into thinking I was failing as a teacher. And honestly, I thought I was.

But the real problem wasn’t me as a teacher—it was me not recognizing how my daughter was wired to learn.

Her brilliance didn’t fit in my boxed curriculum. It didn’t align with the rigid system I was clinging to. I wasn’t nurturing her strengths—I was bulldozing them.

That realization crushed me.

So I started tracking the days I raised my voice. And at first? There were way too many.

I wasn’t proud. I felt ashamed. And yes—I believed my daughter might really grow up to hate me.

So I did the only thing I could do—I broke down and prayed. I begged God to remove my anger, to soften my heart, to teach me how to teach her. How to be empathetic, and how to be calm. How to apologize and how to trust him.

And slowly, He did. He calmed me. He led me to understand her learning style. And He helped us rebuild something better: a homeschool rooted in grace, not guilt. A rhythm of rest, not rigidity.
