Short answer? Absolutely yes.
If youâre homeschooling and wondering whether your studentâs records are considered âofficial,â letâs clear this up right now: a homeschool is a legitimate form of private education â and that means you can issue official transcripts. You donât need a public school stamp or fancy district letterhead to prove your childâs education is real.
In most states, homeschools are recognized as private schools. That means you, the parent or homeschool administrator, are the official record keeper.
You decide:
What courses your student takes
How credits are earned
What grades are awarded
When they graduate
You also have the right to create and sign their official high school transcript â just like any accredited private school would.
An official homeschool transcript simply needs the right structure and signatures. Hereâs what to include:
Homeschool name (Example: Joycee Academy or Cowlitz County Homeschool Hub)
Student information â full name, date of birth, and expected or actual graduation date
Course list â all subjects, grades, and credits earned per semester/year
Cumulative GPA
Administrator signature â thatâs you!
Date and contact information
(Optional but classy) â a homeschool logo or seal for that polished, professional finish
Once complete, you can print it, sign it in ink, and mark it âOfficial Copyâ, or save it as a locked PDF with your signature embedded.
To keep it âofficial,â the transcript should be sent directly from your homeschool â not from the student.
If a college, trade school, or program requests it, you can:
Mail a signed paper copy
Or email a PDF from your homeschool administratorâs email address
Thatâs just as valid as any other school sending one.
If youâd rather have your transcript look extra professional (and save yourself hours of formatting headaches), Iâve got you.
